FAQ

Why should I consider hiring Comal Wealth Management?

You should consider hiring our firm if you want to:

  • Create a reliable income stream from your retirement savings.
  • Be proactive about reducing taxes throughout retirement.
  • Invest in a portfolio designed to grow purchasing power while seeking to manage risk.
  • Delegate the ongoing financial work so you can focus your time on what's most important to you.
  • Ensure your loved ones have a trusted advisor to lean on when needed.

How are you different than other financial advisors?

There are four areas that set us apart:

1. Specialized Expertise. We work specifically with people nearing or in retirement. We believe focused expertise matters, just like in medicine or law.

  • We provide proactive tax planning and strategy that is coordinated with your income plan and portfolio. Many clients come to us after working with tax preparers who were largely reactive rather than helping them plan ahead and connect tax decisions to their broader retirement strategy. We are committed to helping you lower your lifetime taxes.
  • Through our strategic partnerships, clients have access to estate document creation and updates including trusts, wills, medical directives, and financial powers of attorney, often at no additional cost.
  • We design in-house, purpose-built portfolios to support both the transition into retirement and the ongoing need for sustainable retirement income.

2. Family Continuity. We often work with multiple generations of the same family and offer discounted pricing for family members who may not otherwise meet our traditional minimums. This helps create better coordination across the family and gives your loved ones a trusted professional they can rely on.

3. Intentional Capacity. We intentionally limit how many new clients we take on so we can provide thoughtful guidance, personal attention, and a high level of service.

4. Coordinated Planning. We take a holistic and life planning centered approach by coordinating investment management, retirement income planning, and tax strategy so your finances are managed as one integrated plan.

How many full-service clients do you serve?

We currently serve 38 full-service clients. While advisors at larger firms often manage hundreds of relationships, we intentionally limit the number of clients we work with so we can provide more personalized attention, better coordination, and thoughtful ongoing advice. At this time, we have capacity for 50 full-service clients.

Can we work with you if we live outside Texas?

Yes. Many of our clients live outside of Texas.

How are your fees structured?

We charge an annual advisory fee based on the amount of assets we manage for you.

Our fee schedule is as follows:

For example, a household account balance of $2,500,000 would be an annual fee of $25,000.

This fee covers our comprehensive retirement planning and investment management services, including proactive tax planning, retirement income design & maintenance, estate and insurance coordination, and ongoing portfolio management tailored to your specific situation.

Fees are billed monthly in arrears and are typically deducted proportionally from the investment accounts we manage.

We do not earn commissions, sell financial products, or receive compensation from third parties.

Note: Keep in mind you need to look at the all-in cost. Investment advisory fee + underlying expenses of the investments used. Our underlying fees are much lower than the industry average. Firms that have lower investment advisory fees may have a higher all-in cost if they are utilizing investments that have high internal fees. We're happy to provide a fee analysis.

We offer a Free Retirement Readiness Review™ so you can evaluate our process and decide whether we are the right fit.

Why do clients feel your fees are worth it?

Our fees reflect the level of specialization, personal attention, and ongoing advice we provide. We intentionally limit the number of clients we serve so we can stay closely involved and deliver a coordinated approach to investment management, retirement income planning, and tax strategy.

We believe an advisory relationship only make sense if the value clearly exceeds the cost. For our clients, that value comes from far more than portfolio management alone. It comes from helping them make better decisions, avoid costly mistakes, reduce taxes where possible, and move through retirement with greater clarity and confidence.

There is also meaningful value in knowing you have a trusted professional in your corner; someone helping you stay organized, think clearly, and make wise decisions as life changes.

Ultimately, the question is not simply what you pay, but whether the relationship improves your financial life in a meaningful way. That is why we offer a Free Retirement Readiness Review™, so you can evaluate our process and decide for yourself whether we are the right fit.

Do you offer hourly planning?

No. We do not offer hourly planning.

Our firm is built to serve retirement savers who need and want an ongoing advisory relationship. We believe retirement planning works best when it is proactive and continuous, allowing us to refine your income plan, investment strategy, and tax approach over time as circumstances change.
